Scripture reflection over Sunday’s Sermon

1 Kings 8:27 NIV
"But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!”

The process of building a great church has not changed with time. In first Kings Solomon goes to great lengths to establish a temple in God's honor. He forges an alliance with a neighboring King--exchanging food for lumber, gifts towns for labor force. Throughout Solomon’s reign he gains much fame for wisdom, and wealth. It's easy to see building a church takes time, money, planning. However, all this isn't anything without God. As a final measure, in chapter 8 of first Kings Solomon pleads for God to always give answer to his people's prayers. In the above verse from this prayer Solomon rightly identifies the value of any man made structure. There is nothing that can contain God. As we move forward in growth as a church, it's crucial that we also focus on the presence of God among us.
