Where do we go from here????

Sunday marked a new high for PTCC we reached the crazy number of 200 in Sunday service in a building set up for 120.  There are leaders in the church world that would tell you we can’t reach these numbers in this building; some will say we must not be preaching the gospel.

So what do the numbers mean?? Should we be excited?? Should we worry or should we rejoice?? Is this God driven or is this people driven?? These are the questions I ask myself as we continue to grow.

We aren’t really numbers driven kind’a people, we don’t push membership and we don’t like to count, but we have to so we can plan for what God is giving us. So I had to look to scripture and ask what is God telling us by bring this many people to our little church.

1.    Its God designed Acts 2:47 (ESV) praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
·         We follow Jesus, Jesus called us to love all people and we will! We don’t judge, we want to see all sinners repent and come to Jesus. To do that we have to love people right where they are.

2.    We must follow the teaching of Jesus Christ! Matthew 5:17 (ESV) “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
·         That’s a broad statement! We must always model ourselves after the life and works of Jesus. The world is filled with religious people and we must not become religious. If we let doctrine replace solid biblical teaching we will never be the light!

3.    We Must not become Judgmental, Matthew 7:3 (ESV) Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
·         We must not judge anyone who walks in our doors, Jesus said only he knows the heart of man. It is not our place to judge anyone; it is our job to allow Jesus to shine his light through us. Do we condone sin NO, do we want people to change YES, but they can’t change if we never allow our savior (who is still working in us) to use us to allow others to meet Him!

4.   We must carry on Jesus work
·         There are two passages of scripture that I want you to remember here
Matthew 28:19–20 (ESV)
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
John 13:34–35 (ESV)
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

We cannot make disciples out of people unless we love them unconditionally first. Jesus taught grace, love, tolerance, forgiveness, and upheld the law all while loving on sinners. We have to love everyone God sends us and if he continues to send them, by his grace, we will, on faith, build and add-on to allow people to be saved and find eternal salvation in His earthly house we call Prairie Trail Cowboy Church
