And to us a child is born
And communion!
Why we do what we do!!
To me this church is my home!
·
This is where my family is
·
This is where the people are
that I do life with
·
This is the family God chose
for me
·
We aren’t perfect (me
included)
·
We sin daily
·
We make mistakes
·
But we are family!
Some of you here today have
never experienced family like we do here, you have never been around folks that
genuinely care about you, love you, and want to do life with you.
·
I can tell you this Jesus
designed it that way
·
The first church ever under
Jesus was set up that way
Acts 2:42–47
(NIV)
42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching
and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
43Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and
signs performed by the apostles.
44All the believers were together and had everything
in common.
45They sold property and possessions to give to anyone
who had need.
46Every day they continued to meet together in the
temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and
sincere hearts,
47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the
people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
·
Today we will
praise Jesus for coming to this earth
·
We will praise
Jesus for the opportunity for salvation
·
and today, we
will take communion
·
but first I
would like to explain what we do what we do
A child is born!
Isaiah 9:6
(NLT)
6For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The
government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Matthew
1:18–23 (NLT)
18This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother,
Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place,
while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy
Spirit.
19Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want
to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly.
20As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared
to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to
take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy
Spirit.
21And she will have a son, and you are to name him
Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
22All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message
through his prophet:
23“Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will
give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with
us.’ ”
·
Today we celebrate the birth
of a child
·
But not just any child,
Immanuel (God with us)
·
Jesus stepped out of heaven
and to this earth to save all people from there sin
·
Its called salvation
o We are saved by faith in Jesus
o We are saved to live a better life
o To learn from one example
o And to one day live forever in heaven
·
It’s not always easy
o Some churches will tell you life gets easy with Jesus
o Not always
o But it will get better
o And God will provide you a family to help along the way
o
Jesus example is what we should all follow! (back to the story)
Acts 2:42–47 (NLT)
42All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and
to fellowship, and to sharing in meals
(including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.
43A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed
many miraculous signs and wonders.
44And all the believers met together in one place and shared
everything they had.
45They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with
those in need.
46They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and
shared their meals with great joy and generosity—
47all the while praising God and enjoying
the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their
fellowship those who were being saved.
Luke 22:14–20 (NLT)
14When the time came, Jesus and the apostles sat down together at the
table.
15Jesus said, “I have been very eager to eat
this Passover meal with you before my suffering begins.
16For I tell you now that I won’t eat this meal again until
its meaning is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”
17Then he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. Then he
said, “Take this and share it among yourselves.
18For I will not drink wine again until the Kingdom of God
has come.”
19He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it
in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This
is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me.”
20After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an
agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.

are not a Christian, not a follower today is the day
·
Today you have an opportunity to start a relationship with a personal
savoir
·
Today is the time to start down a path that will be life altering
·
So before we take communion, I want everyone in here it bow their

·
And if you don’t know Jesus, and want to, raise your hands
o
Right where you sit I want you to pray
o
Admit you’re a sinner
o
Admit you can’t do it alone anymore
o
Admit that you believe Jesus came to this earth and died for you
o
Rose on the third day and rules in heaven
·
Closing:
This is a very personal thing meant to be done with friends and
family
·
To reflect on what Jesus did
for you on a cross, on a hill called Calvary
o His suffering for you
o Him paying the ultimate price for you
·
It’s a time to forgive and be
forgiven
·
Its time to look deep in your
soul, to shine light on your sin
·
It’s a time to reconcile your
relationship with your savior
·
It’s a time to cry, to morn,
to laugh, to find peace and grace
·
Its time to thanks God for
all the blessing in your life!!
So with that would you please
take the Lords Supper with me!!
